Five Principles RNBA Advocates for Southern Baptist Associations

Five Principles RNBA Advocates for Southern Baptist Associations:

1. Genuine cooperation among Southern Baptist entities, particularly between associations and state conventions, begins with communication at the IDEA stage rather than the IMPLEMENTATION stage.

2. SBC cooperation between associations and state conventions works well using the imagery of family doctor (association) and specialist (state convention) in serving our common churches.

3. Admitting churches to SBC membership rolls, whether an established church or church plant, begins at the association level and is shared with the state convention for a joint welcome to Southern Baptist life.

4. Properly serving Southern Baptist churches starts by understanding individual local church needs and communicating priorities through the association to state conventions and national entities (as needed).

5. State conventions best serve our shared churches by working through their associations and Directors of Missions (DOMs).

Our goal in forming RNBA is strengthening associations to press for these ideals in their own context. If we can help your association and your Director of Missions, please reach out to us. We're here to help!

RNBA Mission Statement

The Regional Network of Baptist Associations is a voluntary fellowship of Directors of Missions / Associational Missionaries who meet regularly for prayer, networking, encouragement, and professional development so that all SBC associations are healthy and vibrant, well-resourced to support local church mission and ministry.

  • The RNBA researches and publishes member information regarding Associational news, needs, affordable staff health care, legal and financial services, professional services (e.g., bookkeeping, cooperative agreements, etc.), and crisis and transitional consultation.
  • As the only SBC missions organization completely under control of the local church, every association and the RNBA operates autonomously and yet cooperatively with all Southern Baptist entities.

All DOMs are welcome to attend our weekly meetings, usually held on the the third Wednesday of every month 10 A.M - 2 P.M. Most meetings are held at the Mid-Atlantic Baptist Network / Baptist Convention of Maryland and Delaware, 10255 Old Columbia Rd. Columbia, Maryland.

Moderators for 2018 are Dr. Ben Scott, DOM at South Central Baptist Association, Elizabethtown, PA and Dr. Ron Blankenship, Montgomery Baptist Association, Gaithersburg, MD.
